A professional Queen Elizabeth II impersonator says bookings have dried up ever since her death.

Patricia Ford, 88, vowed she wouldn't stop working even after the late monarch tragically died aged 96 last September.

But as the nation marks one year since Her Majesty passed away today (Friday, September 8), Patricia admitted she hasn't played a single gig in that time.

"[Business is] completely flat," she told the Daily Star.

"People say to me, 'You're never going to get any work from her, she's died!'

"It's extraordinary, I can't think why."

Patricia worked as a lookalike for more than 20 years up until the Queen died at her residence in Balmoral, Scotland, surrounded by family.

"I don't think there are any other Queen lookalikes, I do occasionally go through the [impersonators] but no one seems to have taken over from me," she continued.

"But now I can get my hair cut short if I want to, and the thought of having to go through all the travel, the trains…

"I'm stress-free at the moment. I live a lovely life, I live in a lovely place, so I'm really relaxed normally in life."

Asked about Her Majesty, Patricia said she "could never put a foot wrong anywhere".

"I wish I could say that about my life," she added.

"People always seemed to respond very well when I was pretending to be the Queen so she was obviously very much liked."

And while Patricia may be hanging up her crown and sceptre – at least for now – she reckon's she's still the late monarch's perfect likeness.

"I was shopping yesterday and waiting to cross a road, and a chap next to me said, 'You DO look like the Queen!'" she continued,

"So I still look the part…"
