A popular UK beach has been evacuated after a body was discovered.

Police were called to reports of a dead body at Southerndown Beach, also known as Dunraven Bay, on Thursday, August 24, at 2.45pm.

Emergency services are still in attendance at the beach in the Vale of Glamorgan as the incident remains ongoing, South Wales Police said in a statement.

Cops added the beach area around where the body was found was cleared so emergency services can work at the scene, reports WalesOnline.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "South Wales Police was called around 2.45pm this afternoon with a report that a body had been found at Dunraven Bay. Emergency services are in attendance and the incident is ongoing."

Meanwhile, two men, aged 66 and 33, have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following the fire at the Crooked House pub in Himley, near Dudley, Staffordshire Police said.

The men, from Milton Keynes, remain in custody today with investigations ongoing.

Appeals for information remain out, with members of the public with helpful information urged to come forward, Staffordshire Police has stated.

At 10pm on August 5 emergency services were scrambled following reports a fire had broken out at the pub with some 30 firefighters sent to the scene to tackle the blaze.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police: "Detectives investigating the fire at the Crooked House pub in Himley have arrested two men.

"A 66-year-old man, from Dudley, and a 33-year-old man, from Milton Keynes, have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

"They remain in custody today (24 August) and are being questioned by officers while the investigation continues.
