The bloke who raged over a steakhouse refusing to pay out after he claims to have completed a huge food challenge has been invited back to have another crack at it.

Controversial rulings from the Devon-based eatery has seen the Cattlemans Steakhouse claim a bloke called Dan did not complete the challenge after he snubbed the side salads. He has since missed out on the £50 prize for conquering the meat platter.

Despite powering through the 20oz rump steak, 12oz gammon, four sausages, three chicken wings, a chicken breast and a 6oz cheeseburger, Dan skimped on the side salad and thus failed the challenge – despite knowing full well that the sides are part of the challenge that needed completing in just one hour.

The steakhouse posted photos showing Dan had conquered the silver platter of meat but had passed on the salad and mushrooms. TikTok users are absolutely livid with the decision after the restaurant says Dan came "so close" to completing the challenge.

Others did not hold as much sympathy for salad-hating Dan, with one saying: "So you're telling me he munched all of that but when it got the salad he tapped out. Yeah, get a grip."

Owner Gary King defended the restaurant's response though, stating that the challenge is to “eat everything”. However, just 24 hours after it blew up bigger than most international incidents, the lad has been invited back to try it again – but he also exposed a rule that Dan could have used previously.

Writng on Facebook, Gary said: “As the owner of Cattlemans Steakhouse, I can assure you he could have swapped the salad for some extra chips/onion rings. . . also Dan totally understood that he did not complete the challenge and left happy.

“We will be inviting him back to have another go – let's sort SALADGATE out once and for all.”

Dan has yet to respond to the challenge.
