The Crocodile Hunter's son Robert Irwin was seen following in his father's footsteps as he made a 'first' of it's kind rescue at the zoo.

The 19-year-old son of Steve Irwin was filmed rescuing a carpet python snake after it had become stuck inside a Coca-Cola vending machine at the Australia Zoo.

The huge snake, which can grow to 6-8 feet long, had somehow gotten caught behind several bottles of pop and had to be pulled out to safety so he "wouldn't get caught in the wiring".

Luckily, Robert came to the rescue and safely set the carpet python free as he documented the rescue in a viral video that has now gained more than 1.7million likes on social media.

In the clip, which was shared to TikTok on Friday, the wildlife warrior was seen driving his truck as he explained: "I just got a call that there's a carpet python stuck in a vending machine, so this is a first."

Robert, who was wearing his Australia Zoo uniform, pointed out where exactly the snake was hiding in the vending machine and explained his plan to get him free.

"What we don't want is for him to go up the wiring," he added.

"We need to pull him up at the front, we don't want to make him too upset because we want him to come out nice and smooth."

The rescue only took a matter of seconds and the conversationalist was seen holding the slimy brown serpent in his arms.

He declared "that is how you get a carpet python out of a vending machine" before confirming that the snake would be relocated.

"Don't go in anymore vending machines, mate," he quipped.

But while this was the first time the Queensland-native had to rescue the snake from a vending machine for the first time, it was not the first time the animal had gotten into a "weird situation".

"This bloke has obviously got a spirit of getting himself caught in weird situations," Robert explained.

"Because he is missing the end of his tail, and that's an old injury from a long time ago."

Viewers were left stunned by the clip as they took to the comments praising Robert for carrying on his father's legacy.

One wrote: "Damn, he is his father. This was awesome to watch."

Another said: "Robert, guess he was wanting a coke to drink (Love that you're carrying on your dads legacy. RIP STEVE IRWIN)."
