The sister of 'Lotto lout' Michael Carroll tragically died after a cocaine binge on the day of her cousin's funeral, an inquest heard.

Zoe Carroll, 43, was found lifeless on her sofa by her teenage children, who tried to revive her before paramedics arrived, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her brother Michael was known as the Lotto Lout for his wild spending on parties, drugs, and flashy gold jewellery. Carroll gave lots of cash to his family, but no one knows how much he gave his sister Zoe.

After losing his fortune, Carroll moved to Scotland in 2011 for a new start, working in a biscuit factory and then a slaughterhouse.

In 2019, it came out that he was delivering coal and logs for £400-a-week and living in a rented flat in Elgin, Moray. Her mother Kim McCleary said at the hearing: "Michael and Zoe were very close. They were like two peas in a pod. I speak to him every day. He is fine, but he has not taken her death very well."

Mrs McCleary read a statement saying Miss Carroll had health issues, including surgery for a kidney stent.

She also beat cervical cancer and was okay for five years before passing away. Mrs McCleary mentioned her daughter threw a party for friends on the same day as her cousin Michael Wells's funeral.

In her statement, she revealed: "I was informed that they were drinking alcohol and taking cocaine. She had friends around to grieve and celebrate his life."

Mrs McCleary received a distressing call from her daughter's pals the next day, urging her to rush over saying "Get here now. Zoe is unresponsive."

Upon arrival, she was met with a scene of police and paramedics at the house. She shared: "I was informed Zoe's son was at the house and her daughter was asleep upstairs. They said they found their mother asleep on the sofa.

"They touched her, and she didn't respond so they did CPR and went to get help from neighbours. She was stressed about many things. She was struggling to provide for her children, stressed about an upcoming operation and my cousin's passing."

Dr Dan Ketley, a doctor with the Magpas air ambulance, which flew to the scene, said that a colleague had told him that a "white powder" had been found "divided into lines on a chopping board" in her kitchen.

Michael Carroll's wild lifestyle led to him being handed an ASBO for terrorising neighbours in Norfolk and he was twice jailed for drugs offences and affray after his massive win.

The self-styled King of the Chavs was also hospitalised over binges which saw him spend £12,000 a week on drugs.
