An athlete was distraught after allegedly being shamed for her “inappropriate” and “lewd” outfit while onboard a flight.

Maggi Thorne, 42, is a veteran American Ninja Warrior (ANW) contestant who clambered through the obstacle course on seven different occasions.

While onboard a flight with Southwest Airlines, the TV star claimed she was asked to cover up.

Maggi sported a small black crop top and a matching pair of high-waisted jogging bottoms aboard Flight 1039 from Orlando to Nashville, when she was approached by the flight attendant.

“[Southwest Airlines] attendant just shamed me in front of passengers saying my attire wasn’t appropriate,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday (September 1).

“A tank top and high-waisted pants. Flight 1039. Is this really happening in 2023? The passengers around me were stunned as she shamed me for all to hear.”

However, X users were divided on whether Maggi’s outfit was a little risqué.

One person wrote: “Looks like most people agree with the flight attendant. Oops.”

Another agreed: “Put some clothes on. It's a plane not a gym. The attire should fit the event.”

A third however backed Maggi, saying: “That’s absurd – proud of you for standing your ground Mag!”

The AWN star maintained there was nothing wrong with her outfit.

She thinks the attendant was out of line for categorising her outfit as breaching Southwestern’s clothing policy of “lewd, obscene, or patently offensive” attire.

Maggi reportedly refused to cover up and complained to another crew member.

“When I told her I wasn’t okay, I don’t think she knew what to do,” Thorne told Insider.

“I’m not a confrontational person, but what happened isn’t okay and someone should say something about it.”

Southwest Airlines has since reached out to Thorne, offering her an apology and informing her that a complaint has been filed on her behalf.
