Motorists can de-ice their vehicle using a common \u00a32 kitchen item, according to leading road experts.<\/p>\n

Tim Alcock, spokesperson for LeaseCar.UK has suggested cooking spray could be the ideal solution to prevent frost build-up this winter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The specialist warns that oil and ice \u201cdon\u2019t mix\u201d meaning it will help separate the ice from the windscreen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Mr Alcock said: \u201cCooking sprays, and any non-stick sprays in the kitchen, can be used to stop ice from sticking to the windscreen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIce and oil don\u2019t mix, they separate. Simply leave it to set for a few minutes and use a towel to wipe off.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThose concerned about the smell should use a non-flavoured cooking oil.\u201d GAP insurance providers, ALA Insurance, also suggested cooking oil could be used to clear cover.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They explained: \u201cDuring winter, you should always keep a shovel in your boot, but to make snow removal even easier, give the shovel a light spray with cooking oil to help prevent snow and ice from sticking, making the process less hassle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cooking sprays can be purchased online for as little as \u00a32 but are also available in almost every supermarket in the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n
