And for the record, all ULEZ expansion fees, charges and fines will be refunded when I am elected as Mayor in 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Met recorded 987 crimes relating to ULEZ cameras between April 1 on October 31, comprising 220 reports of cameras being stolen and 767 cameras being damaged. Five people have been arrested and two charged.<\/p>\n<p>Anti-ULEZ campaigning Claire Turner characterised the targeting of the cameras as \u201can inevitable consequence of Mr Khan introducing what she called his \u201cvery unpopular, unwanted and unneeded policy based on lies and manipulation of data\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She continued: &#8220;Obviously, no one condones criminal damage, but people are angry, no one is listening or helping.<\/p>\n<p> <strong> Don&#8217;t miss&#8230; <\/strong> <br \/> <strong>Sadiq Khan ridiculed as town to burn giant effigy at Bonfire Night in ULEZ fury[PICTURES] <\/strong> <br \/> <strong>Vigilantes vandalise ULEZ camera van with &#8216;spray foam&#8217; and &#8216;let down tyres'[BREAKING] <\/strong> <br \/> <strong>Sadiq Khan humiliated in surge of fake ULEZ signs playing Wombles and porn[INSIGHT] <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/139\/590x\/secondary\/London-5046362.jpg?r=1699023569102\"><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout any direct action, there is the chance that the politicians might think the policy has been accepted and let it slide down the agenda, as Sadiq is hoping, whilst they get used to spending the outrageous amount of money it is raising under the guise of clean air.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe targeting of the cameras helps make sure this doesn&#8217;t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Turner added: &#8220;I suppose this civil disobedience is a way of making sure everyone knows the objection to the ULEZ expansion is not going away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt shows that even if it doesn&#8217;t make the news, people are still fighting against it, and hopefully saves a few people \u00a312.50 in the process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would be impossible for protesters to sit in front of all the cameras with a placard for 24 hours a day so this sends the message &#8211; ULEZ is not wanted here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/139\/590x\/secondary\/ULEZ-5046339.jpg?r=1699023569159\"><\/p>\n<p>A police spokesman said: \u201cThe Met continues to treat criminal activity in relation to ULEZ seriously and has deployed considerable resources to our operation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere there are possible lines of enquiry, local investigators will follow up using a range of investigative approaches including CCTV trawls, witness searches and an assessment of forensic opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the Mayor of London said: \u201cPeople are of course entitled to show their opposition to policies peacefully and lawfully. But causing criminal damage and threatening behaviour is never acceptable.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All incidents of ULEZ camera vandalism are reported to TfL and the police for investigation and arrests have been made.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ULEZ is a highly targeted scheme, supporting Londoners to transition to cleaner vehicles that are better for our air quality.
