Hamas has called Russia its “closest friend” with the terror group promising to track down eight Russian-Israeli dual citizens taken hostage so they can be freed on Moscow’s request, according to Russian state media.

During the barbaric Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7, Hamas terrorists killed more than 1,400 people – mostly civilians – while also slaughterring families in their own homes and murdering some 260 others at an outdoor music festival.

Hamas has taken over 230 hostages so far, but has previously said it does not know where all the captives are located as some of are being held by other terror groups.

But in a stunning development Musa Abu Marzouk, head of the terror group’s international relations office, was quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency as saying: “From the Russian side, via the foreign ministry, we received a list of citizens that have dual citizenship.

“We are looking for those people. It is hard but we are looking. And when we find them, we will let them go.

We are very attentive to this list and will process it carefully because we consider Russia to be a closest friend.”

Over the past three weeks, Hamas has released just four hostages – an American-Israeli mother and daughter and two elderly Israeli women.

Promises over the release of the Russian-Israeli hostages came after Hamas representatives traveled to Moscow last week to hold talks with Russia’s deputy foreign minister, Mikhail Bogdanov over the war with Israel.

Significantly, the meeting was also attended by Iran’s deputy foreign minister Ali Bagheri Kani.

However, Russia has been furiously condemned by Israel for hosting representatives of the terror group, with Foreign Ministry spokesman Lior Haiat tweeting: “Hamas is a terror organization that is worse than ISIS.

“The hands of senior Hamas officials are stained with the blood of over 1400 Israelis who were slaughtered, murdered, executed and burned. They are responsible for the kidnapping of over 220 Israelis, including babies, children, women and the elderly.

“Israel condemns the invitation of senior Hamas officials to Moscow, which is an act of support of terrorism, and legitimizes the atrocities of Hamas terrorists. We call on the Russian government to expel the Hamas terrorists immediately.”

Earlier this month, Vladimir Putin thanked by Hamas for Russia’s “tireless efforts” to stop Israel’s “aggression” against the Gaza territory in a bizarre twist during the ongoing conflict.

A statement from the terrorist group posted on Telegram and circulated in Russian state media read: “We in Hamas appreciate the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the ongoing Zionist aggression against our people.”
