<\/p>\nA secret Russian bunker used during the Cold War period has been eyed as a potential new tourist attraction, with authorities calling the Bond-like bunker a potential discussion piece for European travelers looking for the next big thing.<\/p>\n
The Daily Mail got an exclusive look inside the bunker, which is located on the border of Bosnia and Croatia \u2014 once a part of the Soviet Union, but now separate countries onto themselves.<\/p>\n
The bunker, known as the Zeljava Underground Airbase, was abandoned and ultimately decommissioned in 1992, after the Serbo-Croatian War.<\/p>\n

The bunker, which is not far from the Europe Plitvice Lakes, was built in the 1960s for $6billion in what was then known as Yugoslavia, and was designed to harbor Soviet fighter jets.<\/p>\n
The bunker also had its own power, water purification, and ventilation systems, and could operate autonomously \u2014 making it the perfect place to hide in the event of a nuclear war.<\/p>\n
The walls of the bunker were encased with more than 1000 tons of concrete, making it capable of withstanding a blast of 20 kilotons from a potential nuclear blast.<\/p>\n
“All the systems were state-of-the-art at that time,” said Mirsad Fazlic, a former pilot who worked at the base for nearly a decade in the 1980s, to the outlet. “It was the then best military and civilian technology.”<\/p>\n
