Spy bosses want to hire students to be the next James Bonds.<\/p>\n
They will learn what it\u2019s like to be a real-life 007 and get paid nearly \u00a36,000 for the summer jobs. <\/p>\n
There are also perks including a flat to live in during the placements.<\/p>\n

But undergraduates are warned they can\u2019t take drugs after applying to get a place on the scheme.<\/p>\n
There are full-time internships running at MI6 – where the fictional Bond was based – protecting the UK from foreign threats and MI5 dealing with domestic intelligence.<\/p>\n

It will be based in London and pay \u00a35,701 for 11 weeks running from June 17 to August 30 next year.<\/p>\n
That works out at \u00a312.90 per hour based on an eight-hour day.<\/p>\n
There are also internships at GCHQ – the SIS\u2019s eaves-dropping command – based in Cheltenham, Gloucs, and there is free travel. Spy bosses want students in the second to last year of their university courses.<\/p>\n
And they want people from Black, Asian or ethnic minority backgrounds, and from a socially or economically disadvantaged background.<\/p>\n
The job advert reads: \u201cAs an intern at GCHQ, you will be working in one of our intelligence mission teams.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur Intelligence Data Analyst teams work in a rapidly changing technological environment, problem solving every day.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe use bespoke technology, finding information from different places, including a high volume of data generated by many internet-connected devices.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you do have specialist skills such as cyber, data science, or coding experience, you may get the opportunity to use and develop these skills on the internship.<\/p>\n
It adds: \u201cIn the MI5 internship you\u2019ll be placed in one of our investigative teams where you will experience what life as an intelligence officer is like.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019ll work closely with your development partner and as part of the wider team, learning how live investigations are run.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou will also spend time shadowing people in different roles and departments who are crucial to the intelligence officer role, gaining exposure to a variety of different areas across MI5.\u201d<\/p>\n
Regarding the perks, it says: \u201cIf needed, accommodation will be provided for free for the duration of your internship in all locations, close to local amenities.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will be a single en-suite room in a flat with a fully equipped shared kitchen.<\/p>\n
