Petrol and diesel prices rose by 7p and 8p a litre in August – equivalent to £4 a tank – but pain at the pumps has been eased by retailers dialling back margins to ‘normal levels’. That’s according to RAC Fuel Watch, which says prices could have been set higher by supermarkets and filling stations.
