More than half of people surveyed claim they have made contact with a dead relative, according to a Washington DC-based think tank specialising in social and demographic trends.<\/p>\n
In total, 53 percent of relatives say at some point they were visited by a dead family member in a dream or some other form. Many experienced the interactions happening recently, with\u00a044 percent claiming interactions took place within the last year.<\/p>\n
This has been through “feeling the presence” of a dead relative or having the former family member communicate with them. Some surveyed even said they told the relative about their life during the experience.<\/p>\n
According to the Pew Research Centre, women are more likely than men to say they have had these kinds of interactions with dead family members. <\/p>\n
Another trend found people who are moderately religious are more likely than others (including those who are highly religious and those who are not religious) to have experienced these types of interactions.<\/p>\n
READ MORE: <\/strong> Tourists spooked after spotting ghostly face smiling at them<\/strong><\/p>\n Researchers also found that Black Protestants reported this experience the most (67 percent), followed by Catholics (66 percent).\u00a0<\/p>\n Roughly half (48 percent) of Americans who are religiously unaffiliated, such as atheists, agnostics, and those who say their religion is “nothing in particular”, say they have been visited by a dead relative in a dream or other form.<\/p>\n However, those who describe their religion as “nothing in particular” are much more likely to say they have been visited by a deceased loved one (58 percent) than agnostics (34 percent) and atheists (26 percent).<\/p>\n As reported in the Telegraph, research associates at the Pew Research Centre\u00a0focusing on religion research believed this was the trend because the “most traditionally religious groups” and “least religious” in society are “less likely” to report having interactions with deceased family members.<\/p>\n Don’t miss… <\/strong> We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you.
