Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been told to put his new role of Prime Minister on the line – but not in a General Election.

Sunak, who only came to power last month, has been dealing with the cost of living crisis, a war in Ukraine, and several of his own cabinet ministers either resigning of facing calls to do so.

But now, in a moment nobody saw coming, a top independent wrestler has laid down a rather unexpected challenge to the PM involving a steel cage.

United States-based wrestler Effy, whose real name is Taylor Gibson, is coming to the UK next month for a tour, wrestling for North Wrestling in Newcastle and TNT Wrestling in Liverpool

And the 32-year-old has taken to Twitter to issue the challenge ahead his trip to the UK.

He said: ”There's a real reason I'm coming back to the UK. You got rid of Boris – which was a good move.

“Then you got Liz Truss, who was garbage but she knew that.

“And now Rishi Sunak – I'm coming back to the UK to challenge you to a cage match.

“I'm going to beat the hell out of you in a cage match, become Prime Minister of the UK and abolish the UK.

“Then we'll go back to anarchy in the UK, except without the Sex Pistols being put together by a conglomerate and being a corporate entity.

“All you Tories watch out, because I'm going to make you f**k off.”

Sunak has yet to respond to the challenge – although the Daily Star has contacted his team for a comment.

But, if he did set foot in the ring, he wouldn't be the first MP to do so.

Conservative MP Paul Bristow got into the squared circle in 2020, when he challenge wrestler Joey Scott in Peterborough.

Although it wasn't actually a match, Bristow squared up to Scott and ended up getting beaten down for his troubles.

This led to Bristow getting involved in Scott's match later that night, and becoming a referee to make sure his foe lost.
