A woman complained to her butcher that the pink turkey she bought ruined Christmas, only to be told that she had purchased a gammon joint instead.

Zoe messaged NL Woodcock Butchers in Oldham, Greater Manchester, saying she was “very disappointed” after cooking what she believed to be a 12lb turkey.

She ended up cooking the food twice because it was “still very, very pink inside”, before giving up and having Christmas dinner “two hours later with no meat”.

Zoe ended up going back into the kitchen and had a “nibble on the outside of the now very dried out meat” and realised it was gammon all along.

In response to her complaint, the butcher, Neil, pointed out that she had in fact ordered the “hamper 6” option which consisted of a full gammon joint and no turkey.

Realising her mistake, Zoe apologised and asked if there were any turkeys left and when the butchers would be open.

To top it all off, Zoe revealed that her entire household has Covid apart from her, describing how this incident couldn’t have made Christmas any worse.

Fortunately for her, Neil saw the funny side and even offered to drop off a turkey breast for free because it was the “best laugh he’s had this year”.

The butcher shared the exchange on Facebook and wrote: “Looking after our customers. Sorry Zoe but we thought it was funny.”

Social media users reacted to the post, with one simply commenting: “Brilliant.”

Another wrote: “OMG!!!! Sounds like something I would do”, while a third said: “She never ordered one let alone the difference”.

And a fourth added: “Pretty impressive customer service!”

Zoe also commented on the post, writing alongside laughing emojis: “I'm so pleased everyone has had a massive laugh at our stupidity."

She added in response to another comment: “Apparently I'm a pillock”.
