Rescue teams have been scrambled to find several people missing after a building collapses following a reported gas explosion.

Searches are underway to find nine people, with fears those missing include a pregnant woman and three children, according to local media.

Emergency services are at the scene attempting to clear the debris and rubble in the street in Ravanusa, Italy, with two people rescued so far.

A drone deployed to the search operation managed to find a second woman after the first female was pulled alive underneath the structure.

It's believed six buildings have been affected by the blast, as voices of possible victims are being heard by rescue teams at the scene, local news reports.
