Popular meteorologist and 9NEWS staple Becky Ditchfield is ending her tenure at KUSA on Friday. The St. Louis native has been on the air in Denver since 2007.

“This was a very difficult decision for me, one I did not take lightly. I’ve spent 18 years in the news business, 13 at 9NEWS,” Ditchfield wrote on Facebook.

While she won’t be updating us on how sunny it is on our screens anymore, she says she has a lot to look forward to.

“To everyone who has watched, thank you for allowing me into your homes for all these years,” Ditchfield said. “My family has no immediate plans to leave Colorado; you’ll still see me around. Plus, I’ll be keeping my social media pages updated, so you can see what I’m up to!”

Ditchfield cites spending more time with her family as the main reason to end her run.

She thanked her coworkers from over the years for their help in helping her grow as a person and professional. Ditchfield worked in Hastings, Neb., and Little Rock, Ark., before moving to Denver.
