A dog which was left abandoned after its owners were killed in a horror car crash has refused to leave their gravesite for the past 16 years.
The Russian Hachiko has been alone since owners Maxim and Rimma died in a car crash, since then he reportedly runs away from kindhearted residents or animal shelters who have tried to help him.
According to local media there is a heartbreaking story behind this.
After the tragic death of the couple, family members did not want to adopt the lonely dog, who's name is unclear.
One member tied the pup to its deceased owners' headstone and left it there.

After this, the canine was left there for a week before animal shelter workers came to his rescue – but he did not want to leave.
According to residents reports, people have tried to adopt him and look after him, however he growls and refuses to let them touch him.
Sympathetic residents have taken it in turns to look after him.
Locals have now begun to leave food for him and do what they can to look after him whilst he sits beside his owners.
Local resident Lilia Andrusenko said: “The dog has been here since 2004. There is so much it has gone through. I sometimes feed it, like many others around here do.”
Another local told local media: “The dog doesn’t trust people. It barks and runs away, but always returns when it is alone. I once gave food to the Hachiko and its small pal which they scoffed up immediately.”
Residents say that the Hachiko has been accompanied by a small stray dog for the last couple of years and they have even constructed a kennel at the site for the pair to live in.
Maxim and Rimma died in Chernogolovka in the western Russian region of Moscow Oblast.
