Kate Middleton has “so much power” that her appeal now goes “beyond the Queen”, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s appeal with the public is believed to have skyrocketed after she embraced her position within the Royal Family.

Expert Roberta Fiorito feels Kate, who turned 40 last weekend, has been ”pivotal” in keeping the world interested in the royals with her “careful” and “clever” approach to engagements.

Speaking on her podcast Royally Obsessed, Roberta said: “If you look at the Royal Family, we have the Queen, everyone adores the Queen.

"She is a huge figurehead that people around the world look to, but she (Kate) goes beyond the Queen, I think Kate holds so much appeal, so much power.”

The podcast host believes Kate has a huge amount of pressure “riding on her” as she continues as a senior royal and “matriarch-in-waiting”.

However, Roberta praised the Duchess for her approach to being out in the public eye and in the media spotlight.

She added: “We’ve seen so much of her being very careful, she could have done so much, she could have been like out there all day every day doing all these different engagements, putting her name to all these different things.

“I think what’s clever about her is that she is always very careful and she has always given us just enough.”

Kate recently celebrated her 40th birthday on Sunday and marked the occasion with three photographs taken by renowned fashion photographer Paolo Roversi.

The Duchess was seen wearing three different Alexander McQueen dresses with jewellery belonging to both the Queen and the late Princess Diana.

The glamorous photos, which were shot in London’s Kew Gardens, will go on display as part of a permanent collection at the National Portrait Gallery.

Although the photographs were mostly well received after being posted on social media, some did make comparisons to Meghan Markle with the decision to wear an off-the-shoulder dress.

Meghan wore a similar dress at Trooping the Colour in 2018 and was criticised with reports she broke royal protocol by wearing it.
