A controversial US politician has stated that Jesus wouldn’t have been crucified if he’d have had a gun.
Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert told an audience at the Charis Christian Centre that the Son of God could have fought off Pilate’s men at the Garden of Gethsemane if he’d only had a lightweight semi-automatic rifle of the type used in so many of America’s mass shooting events.
“The little Twitter trolls, they like to say, ‘Ah Jesus didn’t need an AR-15! How many AR-15s do you think Jesus would've had?'” Boebert said during a Christian Family Camp Meeting event.
“Well, he didn’t have enough to keep his government from killing him, so…” she said as the crowd erupted in laughter.
Boebert, who owns a gun-themed restaurant called Shooters where all the staff carry weapons, has made gun ownership a central issue for her political campaigns.
One restaurant employee claims that Boebert had aimed a loaded pistol at him when he said he would have voted for former President Barack Obama to stay on for a third term.
Whenever a mass shooting brings the topic of gun control back into the news, she has staunchly defended Americans’ right to carry firearms in public.

Reacting to calls for a ban on the AR-15 after the shocking Uvalde school shooting, in which 19 children and two teachers lost their lives , she told Fox News’s Hannity Special “When 9/11 happened, we didn’t ban planes”.
The popularity of the AR-15, which can be easily modified to fire in a fully-automatic mode, has made America’s regular mass shootings even more deadly.
Of the 10 deadliest mass shootings in US history, eight of them have taken place in the past 15 years.

An AR-15 – or one of the gun's many copies – was used in over half of the 10 deadliest mass shootings in modern American history.
The perpetrators of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the 2017 Las Vegas shooting, the 2017 Sutherland Springs church shooting, the 2018 Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, and this year’s mass murder in Uvalde all used an AR-15 style firearm.
After praising the gun, Boebert went on to ask the Christian Family Camp audience to join her in praying for the death of president Joe Biden.
“I do want you to know I pray for our president,” she said. “Psalm 109:8 says, ‘May his days be few and another take his office.'”
