North Korea have fired another ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan, according to Japan's Ministry of Defence officials.

The Japan Coast Guard announced at 6:04 am that a possible ballistic missile was launched from Kim Jong-Un's secretive state and ships have been deployed to investigate the weapon's range, altitude, and speed.

The reported launch comes two days after a medium-range ballistic missile, thought to be a Hwasong-12, was fired in the Mupyong-ri area of Jagang Province.

Japan expects the sudden launches to be in protest to the return of the US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the Ronald Reagan, sailing on the Korean Peninsula.

The Twitter account belonging to Japan's Prime Minister wrote in response: "North Korea has launched a suspected ballistic missile."

Several of the first followers to comment on the tweet all asked the same thing, "Again?".

According to multiple government officials, the missile is believed to have fallen outside Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

The US and South Korea have fired four surface-to-surface missiles towards the Sea of Japan as tensions with North Korea continue to rise.

However, one of the four missiles failed shortly after launch, but luckily there were no casualties.

The firing of the rockets came almost 24 hours after Kim Jong-un's launching of a missile over Japan.

That missile landed in the Pacific Ocean but only after a worried Japanese government ordered citizens to seek shelter underground or in buildings in fear of an attack on the mainland.

It was the first time North Korea had fired a missile over Japan in five years.

The missiles that the US and South Korea were testing are known to be capable of flying 200 miles.

They formed part of a second response to North Korea's act of aggression with the US and South Korea also carrying out a precision bombing exercise on Tuesday (October 4).

That involved a South Korean F-15K fighter firing two two air-to-surface munitions at a virtual target in a firing range west of the Korean Peninsula.

Such actions represent a significant ramping up in the typical US and South Korean reaction to a North Korea missile test, which is usually limited to the conducting of military exercises.
