Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the UK when they announced they are to leave the Royal Family on January 8, 2022.

And the couple have continued to send shockwaves as they transition from working royal to celebrity.

In their statement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said they needed to “step back” as senior royals in order to carve out a “new role within this institution”.

However, since they left working royal life, Harry and Meghan are reaping the benefits of not being confined by royal regulations and are free to start building an empire.

The couple have already signed major deals with Netflix and Spotify, all while establishing their new charitable foundation, Archewell.

Their Netflix deal alone is worth around $100 million, according to the New York Times.

Prince William and other senior royals are very much upset over the deal due to the fact Harry would partner with the same company that produces The Crown.

An insider told the Sun: "William and other senior royals are incredibly uncomfortable about this drama and livid Harry is now in partnership with the company that's airing it.”

Andrew Bloch, branding expert and founder of Frank PR, believes the couple have become better off after stepping down as working royals.

He told Fabulous: “Since moving to California and stepping down as working royals, Harry and Meghan have secured a number of lucrative business deals and personal endorsements which have seen their personal wealth rocket.

"I would estimate their combined net worth is circa £250million.

“They are really making the most of their newfound status, and their potential to become the world’s richest personal brand looks imminently achievable”

Prince Harry has been giving speeches and in February 2020 gave a talk at a JPMorgan summit in Miami, which reportedly landed him $1million (£740,000) , according to Forbes.

One royal expert believes the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are already becoming celebrities after high-profile appearances on Oprah Winfrey and suspected “staged” paparazzi style photos.

On his YouTube channel, expert Neil Sean said: "Of course that Harry and Meghan are in cahoots with that particular snapper or indeed celebrity agency.

"Let me tell you how that works, you contact the celebrity photographer, you do a split deal with them, they sell it to the newspapers syndicated around the world, and then you get a quarter or half the money.

"Of course you have to pretend you didn't know the pictures were being taken and you were caught off aloud but always looking very glamorous and very much in control.

"I’m not suggesting for one moment that this is the case but again you know this is how Harry and Meghan could make their money moving forward as celebrities now outside the British Monarchy."

The Sussexes representatives have been asked for comment.
