A lottery winner has been jailed for abusing teenagers and making child porn.

Matthew James Campbell, 35, will spend more than 10 years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to rape, two counts of indecent assault, grossly indecent behaviour, and possessing and producing child exploitation material.

On November 7, 2021, Campbell, who quit his job as a trade worker after winning a jackpot of an undisclosed value, sexually abused two teenage girls, aged 16 and 17.

The man took the girls to a secluded area of a park in Mount Barker, outside of Adelaide, Australia, after luring them in with 10 cans of Smirnoff.

The abuser then proceeded to kiss them both without their consent, the Adelaide Advertiser reported.

The younger girl then left the area and Campbell forced the older teen to perform a sex act on him – even when she attempted to push him off.

The 16-year-old came back on two separate occasions during the period of abuse, but Campbell carried on performing his cruel assault on her friend, and eventually the younger teen left for good.

Campbell was arrested in January 2022, two months after the horrific incident took place.

Police confiscated and searched his phone, where they found a large database of explicit pictures of children – some as young as 14, or even younger – being abused.

Four of the pictures had been created by Campbell himself, a court heard.

A psychological report of Campbell was issued in preparation for his sentencing, which showed that the jackpot winner likely had a "paedophilic disorder".

Speaking to the convicted abuser, Judge Karen Thomas said: Your offending was predatory and brazen."

Campbell was sentenced to 10 years, one month and 19 days in jail following the incident.

The abuser will be eligible for parole in five years' time, in 2028.
