A mum who is accused of stabbing her young kids to death in a bathtub was convinced they were “devils” and was frightened of them, according to a devastated relative.

Cops believe Dimone Fleming killed 11-month-old Octavius Canada and his three-year-old sibling Deshawn Fleming by repeatedly stabbing them in the neck and torso at a family shelter in New York.

They were called to the heartbreaking scene after reports of Fleming acting erratically before they found her naked.

Officers were reportedly there for 30 minutes without realising the horrors that had occurred in the bathroom.

Octavius’ great-aunt, Casey Canada, told NY Daily News that Fleming had been rambling about demons.

She explained: “She thought the kids were devils. She said she was afraid of them. She definitely loved them for sure, that wasn’t fake.

“There wasn’t a moment I was around her she wasn’t loving with the children — but with adults she could change in a moment.”

Fleming, who has not yet been declared an official suspect, remains in custody as a person of interest in the case. No charges have been filed.

Deputy Chief Louis De Ceglie of Patrol Borough Bronx told reporters: “Officers arrived and found a 22-year-old female naked inside of the apartment on the third floor acting irrational.

“The officers took the female into custody without incident, and awaited the response of the ambulance.”

But after leaving the scene, Octavius’ father Columbus Canada spotted the children’s bodies in the bathtub and frantically called cops back.

“A second 911 call was received reporting to unresponsive babies not breathing at the same location,” Deceglie said.

“Patrol officers returned to the apartment, where they found an 11-month-old baby boy and a 3-year-old male unresponsive with stab wounds, multiple stab wounds.”
