Severe weather is sweeping through the Front Range on Thursday afternoon, with several tornado warnings issued in areas surrounding the Denver area.

Tornado warnings have been issued in Thornton, Westminster and Arvada, Brighton, Frederick, Fort Lupton, Parker and Frankton, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. A previous warning for Broomfield has expired.

Pea- to quarter-sized hail have been reported in the area north of Denver. The metro area and 11 counties remain under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m. Thursday. The weather service said to expect several rounds of showers and thunderstorms throughout the afternoon.
