The friends and family of British expat Paul Lowery who was killed in a plane crash in Spain have paid tribute to the "experienced" pilot.
Paul, 46, died instantly after the plane he was flying plummeted into the sea off a beach near the port city of Cartagena on Saturday May 8.
The expat died instantly despite the best efforts of a nearby canoeist who helped pull his body out of the water.
Friend Javier Martinez Pacheco said Paul was a "very serious pilot" who "followed all the rules," describing his friend's death as "very regrettable and tragic."
Mr Pacheco added that the team at the aerodrome where Paul would frequent, and departed from that day, are "mourning the loss of a companion."
He added that the pilot’s family are "absolutely devastated" and "suffering" at this time.
Paul’s friend revealed other people were going to fly with him but they ended up staying behind to do maintenance work on another aircraft.
