An air force pilot has been arrested on suspicion of killing his girlfriend and burying her body behind a hotel.
The body of Ivana Modica, 47, was found buried behind Hotel Eden in the town of La Falda in the central Argentine province of Cordoba on February 13.
The last person to hear from the victim was her daughter, Nicole, three days prior.
Nicole told the newspaper Infobae that her mother sounded happy and content the last time they spoke, saying her partner Javier Galvan had gone to work and she was planning to get some rest and take a walk in the hills the following morning.
Nicole never heard from her mother again and the following day Galvan, 44, contacted police to report that his girlfriend had gone missing.
Galvan told the police that Modica had taken a walk in the nearby hills of La Banderrita and never came back, and a huge search operation was launched using drones, dogs and a helicopter.
However, Galvan's alibi of being at work when the victim disappeared soon began to fall apart.
Police used GPS data from the suspect's phone that put his supposed whereabouts when the victim disappeared into question, and they reportedly found CCTV footage to back up this suspicion.

Officers said that they also found inconsistencies in his statement.
According to Infobae, the police arrested the suspect and he soon confessed to the crime.
Galvan reportedly disclosed the body's exact whereabouts to the authorities and his lawyer Felipe Jure told TV channel El Doce that his client has pleaded guilty to the murder of Ivana.
The authorities, along with the suspect, went to the hotel and found Ivana's body, according to reports.
Galvan has been dismissed from the air force and is currently being held in prison awaiting trial for femicide where he is set to remain whilst the autopsy on the victim is completed, according to local media.
A preliminary report indicated that the victim had been strangled to death.
There have already been seven femicides (murders of women) recorded in Cordoba Province this year, and hundreds of people took to the streets after Ivana's murder to demand justice for her and other victims.
