The stunning Algarve region on the Portuguese coast won best destination in Europe for the third consecutive year.
The Algarve faced tough competition in the beach category from popular destinations including Majorca, Marbella Cannes and Corfu.
Sales director of Kronos Homes, Alda Filipe, said: “Portugal is a wonderful country so full of charm and with so much to discover.
“It is lovely to see that my home nation is recognised with these awards. It is well deserved.”
The region’s tourism board has recently announced its plans to put more focus on off season tourism to the Algarve.
As a world class golfing destination, the Algarve has plenty to offer enthusiasts all year-round at one of its many courses.
British tourists can explore whitewashed fishing villages overlooking hidden beach coves with crystal waters.
The beaches south of the city of Lagos are some of the region’s most stunning areas and are overlooked by red limestone cliffs.
Praia de Falésia is one of the longest beaches in Portugal at almost seven kilometres with golden sands.
Surfers have plenty of waves to catch on the Algarve and will be spoilt for choice with the region’s many surfing beaches.

Families should take a dolphin watching tour to catch a glimpse of the beautiful creatures in their natural habitat.
The Algarve region is also a popular choice with holidaying celebrities and footballers who are big fans of the resort.
Wayne and Coleen Rooney have been spotted there while Steven Gerrard, Alan Shearer and Jamie Carragher are regulars.
Madonna pays frequent visits to the region while Ronan Keating and Niall Horan enjoy holidaying in the Portuguese area.
Tourists have also shared their holiday snaps in the Algarve across social media with positive comments.
