Greta Thunberg has mocked Boris Johnson and other “so-called world leaders” over a lack of action to tackle climate change. The 18-year-old Swedish activist delivered a fiery slap down on Mr Johnson in Milan during her opening address to the Youth4Climate summit. Ms Thunberg lumped the Prime Minister’s “build back better slogan” and net-zero by 2050 climate pledge together with other world leader’s “empty promises” on global warming.
Ms Thunberg quoted a climate speech the Prime Minister gave in 2016, remarking: “This is not about some expensive politically correct dream of bunny hugging, or build back better, blah blah blah.
“Green economy, blah blah blah, net-zero by 2050, blah blah blah.
“This is all we hear from our so-called leaders.
“Words that sound great but so far have not led to action. Our hopes and ambitions drown in their empty promises.”
