When you step into the Las Vegas Convention Center in early November, you’re likely going to see the world’s craziest builds. From trucks to sports cars, to hot rods, the SEMA show is home to the wildest automobiles. This year is not the exception, and Toyota is going all in. After presenting the Tacozilla Camper, Toyota is showing three additional tucks with crazy accessories that will give customers an idea to make their pickups even wackier.

2022 Lifted and Accessorized Tundra

Although it’s not on the market yet, Toyota used this opportunity to showcase some of the accessories available on the 2022 Tundra. This example comes with the new TRD lift kit that provides 2.6-inches of additional ground clearance and increases the approach, departure, and breakover angles by 5, 1, and 2 degrees, respectively. If you’re planning on hitting the trails, the TRD skid plate and TRD Off-Road wheel and tire package may come in handy. A chrome package adds the “Tundra” badges on the door panels, while the Tundra lettering on the grille and tailgate are also decorated in chrome (along with the exhaust tubes).

TRD Desert Chase Tundra

What happens when TRD teams up with Toyota Motorsports Garage? In the case of the Tundra, you get a TRD Desert Chase Tundra. Like its name suggest, this Tundra was built as a chase vehicle, and it starts with the TRD Pro and its new i-Force Max hybrid engine with 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. To achieve the task, the teams fitted a TRD-designed long-travel suspension that uses the Tundra’s stock mounting points, along with a wide-body kit designed and manufactured at TRD’s North Carolina composite shop.

A custom set of lightweight 18-inch forged aluminum wheels from Method Race Wheels, wrapped in 37-inch General Tire Grabber X3 all-terrain tires should help this Tundra hook up, and when the sun goes down a Rigid lightbar in the front and Rigid lights on the side and rear should have all competitors covered when the TRD Desert Chase Tundra needs to step in. Of course, all the recovery gear and repair tools are nicely fitted into the box.

Tacoma Overlanding Concept

While most of the builds you see at SEMA seem like they cost a fortune, the Tacoma Overlanding Concept seems like something an average person could put together. Built by Kurt Williams from Cruiser Outfitters, this truck starts with a Tacoma SR5 and adds a bunch of upgrades to make it a better overlander. Starting with the Old Man Emu BP-51 adjustable suspension system that adds Dakar rear leaf springs providing 3 inches of lift, and internal bypass shocks with external reservoirs. That should make the ride better on- and off-road. With 17 x 8.5-inch gunmetal Icon Alloy Alpha wheels wearing 285/70R17 Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, the Overlanding Concept should have plenty of grip.

In case things go the other way, the guys at Cruiser Outfitters made sure to add the necessary recovery equipment. A Warn Zeon 10-S Platinum winch, Maxtrax Recovery Devices, ARB Premium Recovery Kit, Hi-Lift jack, shovel, axe, and an ARB Safari 4×4 Snorkel raised air intake system should keep this Taco out of trouble.
