The historic Bentley R Type Continental Fastback is said to be in “impeccable condition” despite being over 65 years old. The model was still in a “first-rate condition” and is said to “drive as well as it looks”.

Vintage and Prestige Fine Motorcars who are selling the model claims the car has completed just over 101,000 miles in its lifetime.

Based in Northampton, prospective buyers can get an up close viewing of the model by appointment only.

The sellers said the car had been fully maintained by its “current long term owner”

The Bentley was said to be in “lovely order throughout” having bene well looked after all these years later.

Alongside the car, the model comes complete with a “massive history file”

This gives clear evidence of the car’s excellent condition such as its service records and ownership details.

They said: ”This car is in impeccable condition having been maintained without regard to cost by the current long term owner.

“A massive history file comes with the car which we will be photographing after its arrival with us in a couple of weeks.

“The car is in first-rate condition throughout finished in lovely Maroon paintwork to the exterior and unmarked tan leather to the interior.

“This car drives absolutely as well as it looks and is in simply lovely order throughout.

“In addition to this car, we also have an unrestored example in green and a brand new freshly restored example in Black in mint condition.”

The model available for sale is a coachbuilt version from H.J Mulliner.

The firm was a well-known builder of R Type models back in the day alongside other popular firms such as Radford and Freestone and Webb.

The model is more expensive than other similar models based on its excellent condition,

A look at Classic Trader suggests other R Type models are available for sale for under £800,000.

The R Type was the second series in Bentley’s post-war vehicles collection.

The model has often been regarded as a stop-gap before the introduction of Bentley’s S Series in 1955.

It is believed Bentley R Type models have a top speed of around 101.7mpg and can reach 0-60mph in just over 13 seconds.

Fuel consumption of around 15.5miles per one imperial gallon of fuel when the car was first launched.
