If you’ve been holding off on a new 2022 Porsche Panamera because the current offerings just aren’t exclusive enough, Porsche has news for you: Platinum Edition models are coming. The regular Panamera, the Panamera 4 all-wheel-drive, and the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid will all offer the treatment.
This bundle of mainly cosmetic enhancements does come standard with Adaptive Air Suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) on the lesser two models, a typically $2,190 option that enables a broad range of suspension adjustments from firm to plush. (This setup is already standard on the 4 E-Hybrid.) Just don’t expect any additional performance from this package—this one’s largely about style.
All Platinum Edition models roll on Satin Platinum-finish 21-inch Exclusive Design Sport wheels (with 20-inch Panamera-style wheels available if you’d like more tire sidewall). Several other touches get that same satin paint finish, including the fender vents and the Porsche Panamera script on the tail. Other bits are done up in high-gloss black, including the tailpipes and side window trim. Exclusive Design taillights finish the exterior changes.
The interior gets a few special touches, naturally, including door sill plates emblazoned with “Platinum Edition” lettering. All four headrests feature embossed Porsche crests, and the interior trim is black brushed aluminum for a sporty look. Several comfort-oriented options are standard: 14-way adjustable seats with memory, four-zone climate control, and front seat ventilation. All four seats are heated, too. Thirteen paint colors are available at no extra charge, which—if you know Porsche’s options sheets—is kind of a biggish deal.
On the safety front, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and Power Steering Plus variable-assist steering are standard. So is the latest Porsche Communication Management 6.0 infotainment system, with wireless smartphone connectivity and a standard Bose surround-sound audio system.
These Platinum Edition models will reach U.S. shores in spring 2022 at prices that start at $103,250, about $15K above the non-Platinum car. The Panamera 4 version is $107,350, a roughly $14,000 increase, and the E-Hybrid is $116,550, a premium of $11,000 or so.
The Panamera was updated for the 2021 model year with most trim levels receiving more power, updated styling, and the latest goodies from Porsche’s technology bin.
